2009 NATIONAL CHORAL COMPETITION
SECTION ONE - OPEN (Choirs up to 10 voices)
Test Piece - 'I Sing of a Maiden' by Patrick Hadley (a two-part carol)
Own Choice 1 - Song from a Gilbert and Sullivan show
Own Choice 2 - Song by a New Zealand composer
SECTION TWO - NOVICE (Non-finalist in last 10 years) (Choirs up to 10 voices)
Test Piece - 'With a Voice of Singing' (a two-part anthem)
Own Choice 1 - Song from a Rodgers and Hammerstein show
Own Choice 2 - Song by a New Zealand composer
Entries close 30 January 2009 with Mrs Margaret Mahoney, Drama and Choral Convenor
To note:

Up to three (3) Institutes in one Federation may make up a choir entry into the national competition.

Own choices in each section must be no longer than four (4) minutes duration and may include unaccompanied sections.

Soloists may be used for part of own choice pieces.

All singers must be financial members of the New Zealand Federation of Women's Institutes.

Any royalties on other music is the responsibility of the entrant.

Two choirs in each section gaining the most points will compete in the national finals at the Lower Hutt Town Hall during the 88th AGM 2009.

Accommodation will be arranged for the finalists (advise the national office if you do not requrie this please).

On presentation of travel receipts, 60% of travel costs to the finals will be reimbursed.
